Gareth Harvey

Senior Commercial Property Solicitor

Gareth has extensive and varied experience as a Commercial Property Solicitor working with companies large and small, charities, a large public company, educational institutions, banks, developers, and individuals based in the UK and abroad.

He has experience in both commercial and residential property matters and has acted on a wide range of different types of transactions throughout his career. Such as the purchase and development of commercial estates, overage and conditional purchase agreements and property secured finance. Property related work from sales and purchases, drafting leases, development acquisitions, plot sales, refinancing, lease extensions and enfranchisement, advising and resolving title issues.

Recent transactions include a large high-end development of residential property for a Kent based property developer and an adverse possession claim on a large area of open farmland.

Gareth graduated from the University College Cardiff with a degree in law and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and Kent Law Society. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1979 and started his career as a Property Solicitor in central London.

He joined a large Kent firm in 1982 and was with that firm for 40 years, being in his time there - head of the property department, head of office partner, an equity partner and responsible for the firm’s compliance.

Gareth enjoys a hiking holiday most years in the UK and further abroad. He recently travelled to India walking in and has even ventured to the foothills of the Himalayas.

He also belongs to a local cycle club and can often be seen particularly in the summer months puffing his way along the country lanes of Kent. He swims every week (he is keen to make clear - in the local gym’s heated pool, not the sea!) He lives in Hythe and has grown up children as well as very active grandchildren who are still young enough to appreciate his sporting endeavours and sense of humour.
